Instructions for Enterofuryl (Nifuroxazide)
Pharmacological properties:
Nifuroxazide is a derivative of 5-nitrofuran. Suppresses the reproduction of most representatives of pathogenic intestinal microflora. It creates a high concentration in the intestine and has virtually no systemic side effects, as after oral intake is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.
Nifuroxazazid is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria - Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, Salmonellae, Shigellae, Campylobacter jejuni, Yersinia enterocolitica, various types of Vibrio cholerae and V. parchemolyticus, as well as some of the simplest - Entamoeba histolytica, Blastocystis hominis, Trichomonas vaginalis (with the use of higher concentrations of the drug). Less active against Protea, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
When ingested, nifuroxazide is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Its antibacterial properties are manifested exclusively in the lumen of the intestine. Completely excreted with feces. The rate of withdrawal of the drug depends on the accepted amount of the drug and on the motor skills of the gastrointestinal tract. Nifuroxazide does not have a negative effect on the normal gut microflora, does not cause the emergence of resistant microbial forms, as well as the development of cross-resistance of bacteria to other antibacterial drugs. The therapeutic effect is achieved from the first hours of treatment.
Testimony:
- Acute and chronic diarrhoea of infectious etiology, chronic diarrhea in colitis
- acute or chronic diarrhea of unclear etiology, iatrogenic diarrhea caused by taking antibiotics.
application:
Inside regardless of food intake. Children over the age of 7 years and adults are prescribed 200 mg 4 times a day.
The daily dose is 800 mg.
Suspension before use should be shaken. For its dosing use a measuring spoon (capacity 5 ml and graded 2.5 ml), nested in the package.
Children between the ages of 1 and 6 months are prescribed 2.5 ml suspension 2-3 times a day;
7 months to 2 years - 2.5 ml 4 times a day;
3 to 7 years - 5 ml 3 times a day.
Children over the age of 7 years and adults are prescribed 5 ml suspension 4 times a day.
The course of treatment is no more than 7 days.
contraindications:
Increased sensitivity to the components of the drug. Children under 1 month old.
Side effects:
Possible allergic reactions in the form of hives. In this case, the use of the drug should be discontinued.
Enterofuryl Special instructions:
Concomitant rehydration therapy (oral or in/in) depending on the intensity of diarrhoea is required. Drinking alcohol during treatment is strictly prohibited.
The use of nifuroxazide alone in the treatment of diarrhoea, complicated by sepsis, should not be limited, as nifuroxazide is not absorbed in the intestines and does not enter the bloodstream.
The use of nifuroxazide during pregnancy should be avoided, despite the fact that there is no evidence of its possible adverse effects on the fetus.
Nifuroxazazide is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, so the drug can be used during breast-feeding.
Enterofuril does not affect the ability to drive or work with potentially dangerous mechanisms.
Given the quantitative content of nifuroxazide, Enterofuril in capsules is recommended for the treatment of children over the age of 7 years.
Interaction:
nifuroxazide is not recommended at the same time as sorbents or alcohol-containing drugs.
overdose:
Not described. If necessary, wash the stomach, carry out symptomatic treatment.
storage conditions:
In a dry, light-protected place at temperatures of up to 25 degrees Celsius.
