Pharmacological properties Gynomax
Gainomax is a combination of thioconazole and tinidazole. Thioconazole is a synthetic antifungal agent with high activity against yeast and other fungi (including dermatophytes). It has also been successful in controlling some bacterial infections, such as Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides spp., and various gram-positive bacteria (including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp.).
The mechanism of action of thioconazole is to increase the permeability of fungal membranes, which is achieved by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol. This imbalance of ions inside the cell leads to cell death. Clinical trials have shown thioconazole to be more effective than miconazole in both clinical parameters (98% vs 78%) and microbiological parameters (erradication 76% vs 67%). Tinidazole, in turn, is active against various protozoan infections and most anaerobic bacteria.
Despite widespread resistance of 5-nitroimidazoles, 65 to 70% of Trichomonas vaginalis strains resistant to metronidazole are highly sensitive to tinidazole. When administered intravaginally, thioconazole plus tinidazole may be 90 to 100% effective, and 85% of patients respond to microbiologic criteria.
Indications for use Gynomax
It is indicated for vaginal infections caused by Candida, Trichomonas vaginalis protozoa, and Gardnerella vaginalis (vaginal candidiasis, Trichomonas vaginitis, gardnerella vaginitis, nonspecific vaginitis) and for mixed infections.
Mode of application, course and dosage Gynomax
The drug is administered intravaginally. The recommended dose is one vaginal suppository at bedtime for seven days. Alternatively, a regimen of one vaginal suppository given twice daily (morning and overnight) for three days can be used. For comfortable insertion, it is recommended to use disposable fingerlings included in the kit.
Older adults
For patients over age 65, no dose adjustment is necessary
