Pharmacological effect Ketonal Activ Plus
The drug blocks the action of the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), as well as partially lipooxygenase. This results in inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, including those produced in the central nervous system, probably in the hypothalamus. Stabilizes liposomal membranes of both in vitro and in vivo. At high concentrations, in vitro inhibits the synthesis of bradykinin and leukotrienes. Does not negatively affect the condition of the articular cartilage.
Method of use and dosage of ketoprofen:
Ketoprofen is used orally, rectally, or parenterally. The dosage and schedule are selected individually depending on the disease, its severity and the form of drug release.
For oral dosing, the dosage is adjusted depending on the disease and type of drug. Rectal use is usually 100 mg once or twice a day. The dose is 100 to 200 mg IV or IM once. The frequency of injections depends on the clinical situation and the patient’s condition.
Ketoprofen can be used in different forms at the same time, for example, by combining injections with tablets or suppositories. It is important not to exceed the maximum daily dose, which is 200 mg.
