Pharmacological group: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

Pharmacological effect Ketonal DUO:
Ketoprofen belongs to the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It has pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties. The mechanism of action of ketoprofen is inhibition of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), leading to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, including production in the central nervous system (CNS), especially the hypothalamus. The drug also stabilizes liposomal membranes and, at high concentrations, inhibits the synthesis of bradykinin and leukotrienes. It is important to note that ketoprofen does not adversely affect the articular cartilage.
