pyridoxine hydrochloride 10 mg
general description
Magnesium drug
Special conditions:
The tablets are intended only for adults and children over 12 years old.
With moderate renal failure, the drug should be taken with caution because of the risk of developing hypermagnesemia.
With a simultaneous deficiency of calcium and magnesium, magnesium deficiency should be replenished before taking calcium supplements or dietary supplements containing calcium.
When using pyridoxine in high doses (more than 200 mg / day) for a long time (for several months or, in some cases, years), sensory axonal neuropathy may develop, which is accompanied by symptoms such as numbness and impaired proprioceptive sensitivity, tremor of distal calving limbs and gradually developing sensory ataxia (impaired coordination of movements). These disorders are usually reversible and disappear after you stop taking vitamin B6.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and control mechanisms
Does not affect. There are no special recommendations.
Overdose:
With normal renal function, an overdose of magnesium when taken orally does not usually lead to toxic reactions. However, in case of renal failure, magnesium poisoning may develop. The severity of symptoms depends on the concentration of magnesium in the blood.
Symptoms: decreased blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, central nervous system depression, decreased reflexes, ECG changes, respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest and respiratory paralysis, anuric syndrome.
Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. In renal failure, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is necessary.
Drug Interactions:
Contraindicated combinations
With levodopa: the activity of levodopa is inhibited by pyridoxine (if taking this drug is not combined with taking peripheral decarboxylase inhibitors of aromatic L-amino acids). Any amount of pyridoxine should be avoided if levodopa is not taken in combination with peripheral aromatic L-amino acid inhibitors of decarboxylase.
Not recommended combinations
The simultaneous use of drugs containing phosphates or calcium salts can impair intestinal absorption of magnesium.
Combinations to consider
When administering tetracyclines inside, it is necessary to observe an interval of at least 3 hours between the intake of tetracycline and Magne B6® forte, magnesium preparations reduce the absorption of tetracyclines.
Pharmacodynamics:
Magnesium is a vital element that is necessary for the normal functioning of cells, is involved in most metabolic reactions.
In particular, it is involved in the regulation of transmission of nerve impulses and in muscle contraction. 1/3 of the amount of magnesium in the body accumulates in the bone tissue.
The body receives magnesium along with food. A lack of magnesium in the body can be observed with a violation of the diet (diet) or with an increase in the need for magnesium.
Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) is involved in many metabolic processes, helps to improve the absorption of magnesium from the digestive tract and its penetration into cells.
Serum magnesium levels between 12 and 17 mg / L (1-1.4 mEq / L or 0.5-0.7 mmol / L) indicate moderate magnesium deficiency; below 12 mg / l (1 mEq / l or 0.5 mmol / l) - indicates a severe magnesium deficiency.
Pharmokinetics:
Gastrointestinal absorption of magnesium salts occurs in part by a passive mechanism in which the solubility of the salt plays a decisive role. The degree of this absorption does not exceed 50%.
It is excreted mainly by the kidneys.
Indications:
- established magnesium deficiency, isolated or associated with other deficient conditions, accompanied by symptoms such as increased irritability, minor sleep disturbances, gastrointestinal cramps, palpitations, fatigue, muscle pain and cramping, and tingling sensations in the muscles. If after a month of treatment there is no decrease in the symptoms of magnesium deficiency, continued treatment is impractical.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug;
- severe renal failure (CC <30 ml / min);
- phenylketonuria;
- age up to 12 years (effectiveness and safety have not been established);
- hereditary galactosemia, glucose and galactose malabsorption syndrome or lactase deficiency (due to the presence of lactose in the preparation);
- simultaneous administration of levodopa.
Precautions: moderate renal failure (danger of developing hypermagnesemia).
Pregnancy and lactation
Clinical experience with the use of the drug in a sufficient number of pregnant women did not reveal any adverse effect on the occurrence of fetal malformations or fetotoxic effects.
Magne B6® forte can be used during pregnancy only if necessary, on the recommendation of a doctor.
Taking into account that magnesium passes into breast milk, if it is necessary to take the drug during lactation, it is recommended to stop breast-feeding
Side effects:
On the part of the immune system: very rarely (<0.01%) - allergic reactions, including skin reactions.
From the gastrointestinal tract: the frequency is unknown (according to the available data, it is not possible to estimate the frequency of occurrence) - diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence.
