Pharmacological properties Metromicon-Neo
Aerobic organisms do not show sensitivity to metronidazole, but in mixed flora, it may act synergistically with antibiotics directed against aerobes.
Metronidazole, a 5-nitroimidazole, is a bactericidal drug with a tendency to interact with deoxyribonucleic acid.
Aerobic organisms do not show sensitivity to metronidazole, but in mixed flora, it may act synergistically with antibiotics directed against aerobes.
Its mechanism of action is based on the biochemical reduction of the 5-nitrogroup metronidazole using intracellular transport proteins in anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. The reconstituted 5-nitrogroup interacts with the DNA of pathogen cells, thereby inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis and leading to their death.
