Pharmacological effect Mikrazym

Micrasim® is a drug in the form of capsules containing pancreatine pellets that include natural enzymes from the animal pancreas: protease, lipase, and amylase. These enzymes help digest proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

After taking Mykrasim®, the capsule dissolves rapidly in the stomach, releasing tuned pancreatine pellets. Thanks to their small size, pellets are evenly mixed with food and travel with the food lump to the duodenum and then to the small intestine. In the intestine, enzymes are activated, enabling rapid and complete digestion of nutrients.

Thanks to the intestinal-soluble pellet shell, the enzymes remain active until they are released in the intestine, which increases the efficiency of digestion. The maximum activity of the drug occurs 30 minutes after ingestion, providing a rapid therapeutic effect. In the lower part of the intestine, enzymes lose their activity and are eliminated from the body along with food residues.

Indications for use pancreatin

  • Replacement therapy for insufficient production of pancreatic enzymes: chronic pancreatitis, surgical removal of the pancreas (pancreatectomy), the consequences of radiation therapy, dyspepsia, cystic fibrosis, flatulence and noninfectious diarrhea.
  • Problems with the absorption of food after operations on the stomach and intestines.
  • Improving digestion in people with normal gastrointestinal function in cases of eating disorders (eating fat or abundant food, irregular nutrition), as well as problems with chewing, sedentary lifestyle or prolonged immobilization.
  • Remheld syndrome (gastrocardiac syndrome).
  • Preparation for X-rays and ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs.

Mode of application, course and dosage Mikrazym

The dosage of the drug is determined individually depending on the age of the patient, the severity of symptoms and the characteristics of the diet.

Capsules should be taken by mouth and swallowed with an adequate amount of a liquid that does not contain alkalis (such as water or fruit juices). If the single dose exceeds one capsule, half should be taken before meals, and the other half should be taken at mealtimes. If a single dose is a single capsule, it should be taken with meals.

For patients who have difficulty swallowing (eg, children or older adults), the capsule can be opened. The contents (pellets) should be mixed with a liquid or soft food with a low pH (no more than 5.0) that does not need to be chewed (eg, mashed apples, yogurt). It is important to remember that grinding or chewing pellets, as well as adding them to food with a high pH (more than 5.5), can damage their shell, which protects against the effects of gastric juice. The finished mixture should be consumed immediately after cooking.
