Instructions for Otofa (Rifamycin) Ear drops
Description Otofa:
rifamycin group.
Structure:
100 ml contains Rifamycin sodium 2.6 g (2,000,000 IU).
Excipients: macrogol 400 - 25 g, ascorbic acid - 500 mg, disodium edetate - 12 mg, potassium disulfite - 150 mg, lithium hydroxide - 135 mg, purified water - up to 100 ml.
Indications for use Otofa (Rifamycin):
Acute otitis externa
exacerbation of chronic otitis media (including in the presence of persistent perforation of the tympanic membrane)
conditions after surgery on the middle ear.
Pharmacodynamics:
rifamycin group for topical use in otolaryngology. The mechanism of action of rifamycin is associated with the formation of a stable complex with DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which inhibits the growth of bacteria. It is active against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria that cause the development of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the middle ear.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Otofa.
With care: pregnancy.
Side effects Otofa (Rifamycin):
Local reactions: pink color of the tympanic membrane (visible on otoscopy).
Rare skin allergic reactions.
Method of preparation or use:
Adults: 5 drops are instilled into the ear 3 times a day or the drug is poured into the ear for several minutes 2 times a day.
The drug Otofa can be used to wash the tympanic cavity through an attic cannula.
- Children: 3 drops are instilled into the ear 3 times a day or the drug is poured into the ear for a few minutes 2 times a day.
The duration of treatment is no more than 7 days. - Before using ear drops, it is recommended to warm the bottle by holding it in your hand to avoid the discomfort associated with the ingress of cold liquid into the ear.
