Inside. It is necessary to take 2 tables. In the first 72 hours after unprotected intercourse: Table 2. It should be taken 12 hours (but not later than 16 hours) after receiving the 1st table.

To achieve a more reliable effect, both pills should be taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse (no later than 72 hours).
If vomiting occurs within 3 hours after the 1st or 2nd dose of the Postinor tablet, you should take 1 more table.
Postinor can be used at any time of the menstrual cycle. In the case of irregular menstrual cycle, the pregnancy must be avoided.
Local barrier contraceptive methods (e.g. condom, cervical cap) should be used after taking the emergency contraceptive before the next menstruation. The use of the drug in the case of repeated unprotected sexual intercourse during one menstrual cycle is not recommended (due to an increase in the frequency of acyclic blood secretions / bleeding).

Overdose:

Symptoms: increased severity of side effects.
Treatment: There is no specific antidote. Symptomatic therapy is performed.

Drug interaction POSTINOR:

The simultaneous use of preparations inducing liver enzymes accelerates the metabolism of levonorgestrel.
Levonorgestrel reduces the effectiveness of hypoglycemic and anticoagulant (derivatives of coumarin, phenindion) drugs. Increases plasma concentrations of GCS. Women taking these drugs should see a doctor.
Preparations containing levonorgestrel may increase the risk of cyclosporin toxicity due to the suppression of its metabolism.

Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding
Postinor is contraindicated for use in pregnancy. If the pregnancy was caused by an emergency method of contraception, no adverse effects of the drug on the fetus have been identified on the basis of available data.

Levonorgestrel is excreted with breast milk. Breastfeeding should be stopped for 24 hours after taking the drug.

Time between sexual intercourse and taking POSTINOR tablets Efficiency
24 hours or less 95%
25-48 hours 85%
49-72 hours 58%
The drug does not replace the use of permanent methods of contraception. In most cases, POSTINOR does not affect the menstrual cycle. However, acyclic blood secretions may occur and menstruation may be delayed by several days. If menstruation is delayed by more than 5-7 days and the character of menstruation changes (scarce or abundant discharge), pregnancy should be excluded. The appearance of lower abdominal pain, fainting conditions may indicate ectopic pregnancy.

In exceptional cases (including rape), adolescents under 16 need a gynaecologist to confirm pregnancy.
After emergency contraception, a gynaecologist's consultation was recommended to determine the most appropriate method of permanent contraception.
Emergency contraception does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
In case of disorders of the GI tract (for example, in case of Crohn's disease), the effectiveness of the drug may be reduced.
