Pharmacological properties
The preparation, which is based on silver, is an effective agent with a high protein silver content (7.5-8.5%). It performs an action that manifests itself in the form of astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects. In the context of topical application, protein silver dissociates to form silver ions, which bind to the bacteria's DNA and prevent them from multiplying on mucous membranes. The mechanism of action of protein silver consists in the deposition of silver ions on proteins, thereby creating a protective film on the damaged mucous membranes. This leads to narrowing of blood vessels and decreased sensitivity of nerve endings. The result is a reduction in edema and suppression of inflammatory reactions. Silver ions also have the ability to suppress the reproduction of various bacteria, including gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms such as V. cereus, C. albicans, E. coli, R. aeruginosa, S. aureus, A. niger, S. Abony and others.
