Pharmacological effect Siluette
Siluette® is a low-dose, monophasic oral contraceptive drug that combines estrogen and gestagen. Its action is based on several mechanisms, the most important of which are suppression of ovulation and increased viscosity of mucus in the cervix, which prevents the penetration of sperm.
If the drug is used correctly, the Perl index, which reflects the number of pregnancies per 100 women per year, is less than 1. However, if reception is disrupted or misused, this figure may increase.
The gestagenic component of the Siluette, dienogest, has antiandrogenic properties, which is confirmed by clinical studies. Taking combination oral contraceptives (COCs), such as Silhouette, helps normalize the menstrual cycle, reduce the tenderness of menstrual periods, and reduce the intensity and duration of bleeding, thus decreasing the risk of iron deficiency anemia.
Indications
oral contraception.
How to take the drug Siluette
Package of Siluette is designed for 21 days. Each pill is marked on the day of the week it is taken.
The drug is taken on one tablet daily, at about the same time, with a small amount of water. The tablet should be swallowed following the direction of the arrow on the package until all twenty-one tablets are used.
After the first-pack pills are finished, a break of seven days should be taken. During this period, withdrawal bleeding usually begins, usually beginning on the second to third day after the last pill is taken, and can continue until after the next pill is taken.
Even if the bleeding has not stopped, repackaged tablets should be started on the same day of the week so that withdrawal bleeding occurs at about the same time each month.
