Didn't get enough sleep? The effects of one bad night's sleep can last up to two weeks!
According to the study, low mood or lack of sleep can have a negative effect on the brain for two weeks.
Persistent lack of sleep affects the ability to work, he is sluggish, constantly wants to sleep and feels weak.
The good news is that workouts also affect long, but positively.
In many studies, scientists have found that our brains do not respond to everyday life in instant, isolated bursts, but instead alter the response to our way of life over time.
This suggests that poor sleep in the past week may affect poor well-being, restless sleep, or attention over the next week.
As part of an unusual long study, scientists spent five months tracking brain function and behaviors of different people using scanning and data from wearable devices and smartphones. They found that poor sleep greatly affected such indicators as concentration, but that it lasted less than a week. However, areas related to attention and memory may be affected for up to 15 days.
The analysis showed that physical exercise has a long-term positive effect on the interaction of brain regions, that is, they can improve memory and cognitive ability for up to two weeks. According to the researchers, even very slight changes in mood and heart rate left indelible traces for fifteen days.
The study was carried out by scientists from the Universities of Aalto and Oulu in Finland. The scientists concluded, "Every day we wake up a little bit different people, because our mental state is affected by a lot of external factors."
What is more important: training your brain or your muscles?
According to the WHO, one person dies every 10 seconds worldwide because of physical inactivity (or, more precisely, a disease that develops in the process). 3.5m victims of motionless lifestyle are collected in one year. Beginning at age 50, many people develop cognitive impairment. Doctors suspect that it is not only about natural age-related neurodegenerative processes but also about how much people move in their life.
For now, it is possible to say for sure that there is a link between lack of activity and loss of cognitive function. But the question arises: what is primary - a deterioration in memory, logic, thinking, leading to the refusal of active life, or lying on the sofa, against the background of which deteriorates memory, concentration.
