Instructions for Dicynone (Etamsylate) Pills

Pharmacological properties:

Preparation for preventing and stopping bleeding. It affects the first stage of the hemostasis mechanism (the interaction between endothelium and platelets). Dicinone increases platelet adhesion, normalizes capillary wall strength (reducing their permeability), inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis, which causes platelet disaggregation, vasodilation, and increases capillary permeability.

When used internally, the drug Etamsylate is almost completely absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract, reaching peak concentrations in the blood serum 4 hours after ingestion. About 72% of the dose taken is excreted with urine unchanged for 24 hours.

After the administration of the preparation, the hemostatic effect is noted after 5-15 minutes, the maximum therapeutic effect is achieved during 1 hour. The effectiveness of the preparation begins to decrease after 4-6 hours. After administration in a dose of 500 mg, the maximum level in blood plasma is achieved after 10 minutes and is 50 ug/ml. Approximately 72% of the administered dose is excreted for 24 hours with the urine in the same state. Etamzilate penetrates the placental barrier and penetrates the breast milk.
