Composition josamycin

The drug Josaphene contains the active substance, josamycin. Each film-coated tablet contains 500 mg of this substance.

Pharmacotherapeutic group
josamycin belongs to the group of antibacterial drugs of systemic action. It belongs to the class of macrolides, lincosamides and streptogramins, namely macrolides.

The drug Dzhozafen is recommended for use in adults and children weighing more than 20 kg in the presence of infectious and inflammatory processes caused by microorganisms sensitive to Dzhozafen.

Indications include

Upper respiratory tract and ENT infections, such as inflammation of the tonsils, pharynx, periamygdala, larynx, middle ear, sinuses, and diphtheria (in addition to antitoxin) and scarlet fever (in penicillin allergy)
Lower respiratory infections: Acute and chronic bronchial inflammation, pneumonia (including caused by atypical pathogens), pertussis, ornithosis.
Dental infections: inflammation of the gums, pericoronaritis, inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth, alveolitis, abscess of the alveolar process.
Infections in ophthalmology: inflammation of the eyelids, lacrimal sac.

Instructions for use and dosage

Always follow the doctor's recommendations for the use of the drug. If in doubt, consult your health care provider.
Recommended dosage for adults:
The daily dose may vary from 1000 mg to 2000 mg (2 to 4 tablets) of Dzhozafen. It is usually recommended to take 500 mg (one tablet) three times a day. The daily dose can be divided into two to three doses. The doctor can increase the dose to 3000 mg (6 tablets) daily if needed.

Helicobacter pylori-related gastrointestinal disorders:
josamycin 1000 mg (two tablets) is taken twice a day for 7 to 14 days in combination with other drugs.

Common and spherical acne: 
Take 500 mg (one tablet) twice a day for the first two to four weeks, then 500 mg (1 tablet) once a day for maintenance therapy for 8 weeks.

Use in children and adolescents Dzhozafen:
Fourteen to eighteen-year-old children are recommended the same dosage as adults. Children under 14 years of age with a body weight of 20-40 kg - 500-1000 mg (one - two tablets) twice a day. Children under 14 years of age weighing more than 40 kg - 1000 mg (two tablets) twice a day.

Route and method of administration:
Take the drug by mouth. The tablet fault line is intended only to facilitate ingestion and not to split the dose.

Duration of therapy:
The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. Therapy typically lasts 5 to 21 days, depending on the nature and severity of the infection. Treatment of streptococcal tonsillitis should be continued for at least 10 days.

What to do if you forgot to take the drug Dzhozafen®:
If you missed a dose, take the drug as soon as possible but do not take a double dose.
