pharmachologic effect Ecofucin
Natamycin is an antifungal antibiotic classified as a macrolide. Its pharmacological action is based on a wide spectrum of microorganism exposure. This antibiotic is fungicidal and acts on cell membrane steroids, causing disruption of cell membrane function and death of microorganisms.
Natamycin is active against most pathogenic yeast fungi, especially Candida albicans, and against yeast Torulopsis and Rhodotorula. It also targets other pathogenic fungi such as Aspergillus and Penicillium. Natamicin is less active against dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Microsporum, and Epidermophyton. It has been shown not to affect in vitro in gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
It is important to note that natamycin resistance does not occur in clinical practice.
How to use Ecofucin
The suppositories should be used as follows: the contour packaging must be removed before use. The product is then inserted into the vagina while lying still, trying to sink deeper. Apply once a day before bedtime.
For candidal vaginitis, vulvitis, and vulvovaginitis, the suppositories are used intravaginally and a single suppository is used for three to six days.
If vaginitis is caused by Candida albicans and is resistant, natamycin is also given by mouth as a tablet. Take one tablet four times a day for 10-20 days to treat candidal intestinal infection.
The duration of treatment is determined individually. After the symptoms disappear, treatment is recommended for several more days.
The suppository should be discontinued during menstruation.
