Description Floxal:

Pharmacological action - bactericidal.

Composition Floxal:

Active ingredient: ofloxacin.

Indications for use Floxal:

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the anterior part of the eye caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin: blepharitis; barley; conjunctivitis; dacryocystitis; keratitis and corneal ulcer; chlamydial eye infection; prevention and treatment of bacterial infection after eye injuries and surgical interventions.

Pharmacokinetics:

With local administration, the therapeutic concentration of the drug in the tissues of the eye is achieved.

Pharmacodynamics:

The mechanism of action is due to the inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase, which ensures supercoiling and, thus, the stability of bacterial DNA (destabilization of DNA strands leads to their death. Has a bactericidal effect.
Ofloxacin is not destroyed by beta-lactamases and is not influenced by such enzymes as aminoglycoside adenylases, phosphorylases or chloramphenicol acetyltransferase.

Ofloxacin is a synthetic fluorinated 4-quinolone that has antibacterial properties against a wide range of gram-negative and, to a lesser extent, gram-positive microorganisms, is active against most strains of the following causative agents of eye infectious diseases: In ophthalmology and LOP practice, it is used to treat eye and ear infections caused by sensitive strains : Chlamydia trachomatis, Enterobacter cloacae, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Contraindications Floxal:

Hypersensitivity to components (including other quinolone derivatives), pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects Floxal:

Allergic reactions, transient conjunctival hyperemia, burning sensation, discomfort in the eyes, itching and dryness of the conjunctiva, photophobia, lacrimation; rarely - dizziness.
Method of preparation or use:

Conjunctival.
Drops - 1 drop is instilled into the conjunctival sac of the sore eye 2-4 times a day. It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 2 weeks.
A combination of eye drops and Floxal ® ointment is possible .
