Pharmacological effect Heptral

Hepatoprotector, has anti-depressive activity. It has a choleretic and cholekinetic effect. It has detoxifying, regenerating, antioxidant, antifibrotic and neuroprotective properties.

It makes up for the deficiency of ademethionine and stimulates its production in the body, primarily in the liver and brain. It is involved in biological transmethylation reactions (donator of the methyl group), the molecule S-adenosyl-L-methionine (ademethionine), is a donator of the methyl group in the methylation reactions of phospholipids of cell membranes, proteins, hormones, neurotransmitters; participates in transsulfate reactions as a precursor to cysteine, taurine, glutathione (provides an oxidation-reduction mechanism of cell detoxification), coenzyme acetylation. Increases glutamine content in the liver, cysteine and taurine in the plasma; reduces the amount of methionine in the serum, normalizing metabolic reactions in the liver. In addition to decarboxylation, it is also involved in aminopropylene processes as a precursor to polyamines - putrescine (a stimulant for cell regeneration and hepatocyte proliferation), spermidine and spermine, which are part of the ribosome structure.
