Pharmacological effect Maltofer

In iron (III), the polymaltozate hydroxide, the multi-core iron hydroxide (III), is externally surrounded by a plurality of covalently bound polymaltozate molecules, providing a total average molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa.

Method of use, course and dosage Maltofer

The drug is taken during or immediately after a meal. 100 mg of chewing tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole. The daily dose can be divided into several receptions or taken simultaneously.
The dose and duration of treatment depends on the degree of iron deficiency.
Treatment of iron deficiency anaemia in older children and adults
One hundred to three hundred milligrams of iron (one to three tablets) per day are prescribed for three to five months prior to hemoglobin normalization. Treatment should then be continued for several weeks at the dose described for iron deficiency anemia in order to replenish the iron
