Pharmacological effect Sertaconazole
Antifungal agent for external use, a broad-spectrum derivative of imidazole and benzothiophen.
The mechanism of action consists in suppressing the synthesis of ergosterol (the main sterol of fungal and yeast membranes) and increasing the permeability of the cell membrane, which leads to the lysis of the mushroom cell.
In therapeutic doses, it has fungistatic and fungicidal action against pathogenic fungi (Candida spp., incl. Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Pityrosporum orbiculare (Malassezia furfur)), dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton floccosum) and is active in skin and mucous membrane infections (gram-positive strains of staphylococci and streptococci).
