Anthelmintic agent. It causes neuromuscular blockade of sensitive helminths. It is active against Enterobius vermicularis, Ancylostoma duodenale, Necator americanus and, to a lesser extent, Trichocephalus trichiurus. Acts on both sexually mature and immature individuals of both sexes.
Pharmacokinetics
Practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After taking a single dose of 10 mg / kg, the plasma concentration is 0.005-0.13 μg / ml and is reached within 1-3 hours. It is metabolized partially in the liver to N-methyl-1,3-propanediamine. It is excreted unchanged through the intestines (about 93%), 7% is excreted by the kidneys unchanged or as a metabolite.
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, increased activity of hepatic transaminases.
From the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: headache, hallucinations, confusion, paresthesia, dizziness, drowsiness or insomnia.
Dermatological reactions: skin rash, urticaria.
Others: hearing impairment, hyperthermia.

With enterobiasis, simultaneous treatment of all persons living together should be carried out. After completion of treatment, it is necessary to conduct a control study of feces for the presence of parasite eggs.

Use with caution in liver failure.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Pirantel is contraindicated in pregnancy.

Drug interactions Pyrantel:
Should not be administered concomitantly with piperazine (weakening).

How to use Pyrantel:

Children 3 years - 6 years old - 250 mg (1 tablet)
Children 6 years - 12 years old - 500 mg (2 tablets)
Children over 12 years old and adults weighing less than 75 kg - 750 mg (3 tablets)
Adults weighing over 75 kg - 1000 mg (4 tablets)
Ankylostomiasis: the drug is prescribed at the rate of 10 mg / kg body weight per day for 3 days.
Necatorosis: in severe forms, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 20 mg / kg of body weight per day for 2 days
