Sodium rabeprazole is a class of antisecretory substances derived from benzimidazole. Sodium rabeprazole suppresses gastric juice secretion by specific H+/C+ ATPase inhibition on the secretory surface of parietal cells in the stomach. N+/C+ ATPase is a protein complex that functions as a proton pump, thus sodium rabeprazole is an inhibitor of the proton pump in the same 11uke and blocks the final stage of acid production.

It has been found that neither time of day nor food consumption influences the activity of sodium rabeprazole, but the recommended time of taking tablets contributes to better adherence of patients to the treatment regimen.
