Pharmacological effect Levonorgestrel:

Combined monophase oral estrogen-gestagenic contraceptive drug.

When taken in, it oppresses the pituitary secretion of gonadotropic hormones. The contractionary effect is associated with several mechanisms. As a gestagenic component (progestin) contains a derivative of 19-nortestosterone - Levonorgestrel, which exceeds in activity the yellow body hormone progesterone (and the synthetic analog of the last - pregnin), receptors without preliminary metabolic transformation. Ethinyl estradiol is an estrogen component.
