Iron sulfate makes up for the lack of iron in the body. Ascorbic acid improves its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. Prolonged release of bivalent iron ions from Sorbifer Durules tablets prevents undesirable increases in iron ions in the gastrointestinal tract and prevents their irritating effect on the mucous membrane.
Pharmacokinetics:
After taking the drug iron absorption occurs quite slowly because as the Sorbifer Durules pill passes through the LCT release of iron ions from the permeable matrix occurs within 6 hours.
Indication

Dosing mode:
For treatment of iron deficiency anemia adults and teenagers over 12 years are prescribed 1 pill 2 times/day in the morning and in the evening. Side action:

Overdose of Symptoms:
pale, cyanosis, drowsiness, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting. Treatment: gastric washing, deferoxamine assignment (with iron concentration in serum above 5 ug/ml).
Symptomatic therapy is provided if necessary. Pharmaceutical interaction When using Sorbifer Durules with tetracyclines and D-penicillamine simultaneously, iron absorption is reduced due to the formation of chelates (this combination is not recommended). When simultaneously using Sorbifer Durules with anthacids containing aluminum, magnesium and calcium salts, iron absorption is reduced (this combination is not recommended).
