Pharmacological properties Nazol:

oxymetazoline hydrochloride - α 2 -adrenomimetic. By stimulating α 2 -adrenergic receptors of blood vessels, it has a long-term and pronounced vasoconstrictor effect. The vasoconstrictor effect is manifested by a decrease in blood flow, a decrease in edema of the nasal mucosa, paranasal sinuses and the Eustachian tube, as a result of which breathing through the nose is restored, disturbed by influenza, SARS, colds and allergic diseases.

Local vasoconstriction of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses occurs 5-10 minutes after the drug is injected into the nasal cavity, the decongestant effect lasts up to 12 hours. The drug has a softening effect on the irritated nasal mucosa and protects it from excessive drying.

The results of a study with a radioactive isotope of oxymetazoline indicate that when administered intranasally, it does not have a systemic effect.

Indications Nazol:

Colds; ARVI; flu; allergic diseases (hay fever, etc.), accompanied by acute rhinitis , sinusitis (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis); acute otitis media.
In preparation for diagnostic procedures or surgery in the nasal area and to eliminate swelling of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses after surgery.

Application Nazol:

Squeeze the bottle quickly and vigorously and inject a dose of spray into each nostril. Adults and children over the age of 12 years, 2 injections into each nostril, children 6–12 years old - 1 injection. Repeat the injection no earlier than 12 hours later. The duration of treatment usually does not exceed 3 days. Longer use of 7-10 days is possible in consultation with your doctor.

Contraindications Nazol:

Increased individual sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, severe forms of hypertension, severe cardiac arrhythmias, severe atherosclerosis, renal failure, severe prostatic hypertrophy, thyrotoxicosis.

Side effects Nazol:

With frequent and prolonged (over 3 days) use, you may experience a burning sensation, tingling sensation in the nose.
If the cause of the disease is not eliminated, in the case of further use of the drug, a gradual decrease in its therapeutic effect is possible.

When injecting into the nasal cavity, do not throw your head back and do not turn the bottle over. Use the vial individually to avoid the spread of infection.

The persistence of swelling of the nasal passages within 3 days of using the drug may indicate the presence of a curvature of the nasal septum, purulent sinusitis, adenoid vegetations, allergic rhinitis , persistent bacterial infection or other undiagnosed diseases that require the advice of a specialized specialist and specialized complex therapy.

During pregnancy and lactation, the advisability of using Nazol should be agreed with your doctor.

Interactions Nazol:

It should not be used in combination with other vasoconstrictor agents (for any route of administration of the latter), as well as with antidepressants (MAO inhibitors).
