Pharmacological effect Tenoxicam
NSAIDs of the Oxicam class. It has a powerful analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, the antipyretic effect is less pronounced. The mechanism of action is based on the suppression of the activity of the isoenzymes COX-1 and COX-2, as a result of which prostaglandin synthesis in the site of inflammation, as well as in other tissues of the body, is reduced. In addition, tenoxicam reduces the accumulation of leukocytes in the site of inflammation. A distinctive feature of tenoxicam is its long duration of action. Its T1/2 is 72 h.
