Pharmacological properties tobramycin
Combined drug with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect, intended for local use in the field of ophthalmology. Tobramycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group. It is active against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including Staphylococcus spp. (such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus spp. (including certain group A β-hemolytic species, some nonhemolytic species, and certain Streptococcus pneumoniae strains), Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus mirabilis, Morganella morganii, Proteus vulgaris, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus aegyptius, Moraxella lacunata, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, and some Neisseria spp strains. Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid that has a strong anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effect, and also has an antiexudative effect.
Mode of application, course and dosage Tobradex
For the treatment of eye disorders, one to two drops of a drug are recommended to be injected into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (or eyes) every 4 to 6 hours. Frequency can be increased up to one to two drops every two hours in the first 24 to 48 hours.
