Instructions for Sialor Rino Renewal (Oxymetazoline)

Sialor Rino is a local drug with a vasoconstrictor effect used in ENT practice.

Release form and composition Sialor:

Dosage form Sialor Rino - nasal drops: transparent, colorless or somewhat colored (0.01% - in a cardboard box of 2 or 5 dropper tubes with a valve of 1 ml; 0.025% - in a cardboard box of 2 or 5 dropper tubes with a valve 2 ml; 0.05% - in a cardboard box 1 polymer ampoule of 10 ml, complete with a dark glass bottle with a spray nozzle). Composition 1 ml: active substance: oxymetazoline hydrochloride - 0.1; 0.25 or 0.5 mg; auxiliary components (0.1 / 0.25 / 0.5 mg): benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 / 0.15 / 0.15 mg; edetate disodium (Trilon B) - 0.5 / 0.5 / 0.5 mg; sodium hydroxide (0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution) - up to pH 6–7; sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate - 1.29 / 1.29 / 1.29 mg; sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate - 1.76 / 1.76 / 1.76 mg; purified water - up to 1/1/1 ml. Pharmacodynamics Oxymetazoline:

has a vasoconstrictor effect. Belongs to the group of alpha-adrenostimulants for local use. When administered intranasally, the drug helps to reduce swelling of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract. This opens the mouth of the paranasal sinuses and Eustachian tubes and facilitates nasal breathing. The action of Sialor Rino after application develops within five minutes, its duration is 8-12 hours. Pharmacokinetics Oxymetazoline is practically not absorbed when applied topically.

Indications for use Sialor:

acute respiratory diseases accompanied by a runny nose; allergic rhinitis; vasomotor rhinitis; inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, eustachitis, otitis media (in order to restore drainage); carrying out diagnostic manipulations in the nasal passages (in order to eliminate edema).

Contraindications Sialor:

Absolute: dry (atrophic) rhinitis; condition after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy; angle-closure glaucoma; the use of monoamine oxidase inhibitors during the previous 14 days and the same period after their withdrawal; age up to 1 year or 6 years (drops 0.025% or 0.05%, respectively); individual intolerance to the components of the drug. Relative (Sialor Rino is prescribed under medical supervision): pheochromocytoma; combined use with tricyclic antidepressants and bromocriptine; chronic renal failure; diseases of the cardiovascular system, including tachycardia, arterial hypertension, chronic heart failure, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias; disorders of carbohydrate metabolism (diabetes mellitus); hyperplasia of the prostate (urinary retention); dysfunction of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism); pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding. Instructions for use of Sialor Rino: method and dosage Sialor Rino is applied intranasally into each nasal passage 2 to 3 times a day.

Recommended single dose: children under 1 year old (0.01% solution): up to 4 weeks of life - 1 drop each; from the fifth week to 12 months - 1-2 drops; children 1-6 years old (0.025%): 1-2 drops each; children from 6 years old and adults (0.05%): 1-2 drops each. It is not recommended to use Sialor Rino for more than 7 days. With prolonged / frequent use of the drug, the feeling of nasal congestion may worsen / reappear. If these symptoms appear, you need to cancel the drug and seek medical advice.

Side effects Sialor:

Possible side reactions: dryness / burning of the mucous membranes of the nasal cavity, dryness of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, sneezing, an increase in the volume of secretions released from the nose, reactive hyperemia (a strong feeling of nasal congestion after the effect of the drug has passed). Adverse reactions that are caused by the systemic action of Sialora rino: headache, sedation, increased blood pressure, palpitations, dizziness, irritability, nausea, exanthema, insomnia, tachycardia, increased anxiety, visual impairment (if the solution gets into the eyes), disturbances sleep (when using Sialor Rino in children). Disorders associated with long-term use: tachyphylaxis, reactive hyperemia and atrophy of the nasal mucosa. Benzalkonium chloride (preservative), which is part of Sialora Rino, can lead to swelling of the nasal mucosa.

In this case, the drug Sialor Rino is canceled. 

Overdose Sialor:

The main symptoms: tachycardia, nausea, depression of the central nervous system, increased blood pressure. Therapy: symptomatic. special instructions In cases where after using Sialor Rino for three days, there is no improvement / symptoms intensify, you need to consult a specialist. Avoid getting the solution in the eyes. To prevent the spread of infection, the drug Sialor Rino must be used individually.
