Pharmacological effect:
The active substance Desloratadine is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. It is detected in human blood plasma thirty minutes after ingestion. Maximum concentration achieved in
Average 3 hours after reception. It does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Communication
with plasma proteins it is 83-87%. When used in adults and adolescents during
14 days in a dose of 5 mg to 20 mg once a day of clinically significant drug cumulation
Eating grapefruit juice at the same time does not affect
distribution of desloratadine at a dose of 7.5 mg once a day. Desloratadine is not
is an inhibitor of CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 and is not a substrate or inhibitor of P-
glycoprotein. Intensively metabolized in the liver by hydroxylation with
3-OH-desloratadine combined with glucuronide. Only a small part
the swallowed dose is taken by the kidneys (< two%) and through the gut (< seven%) unchanged
view. The half-life averages 27 hours.
The drug Desloratadine does not affect the CNS, has virtually no sedative effect (does not cause drowsiness) and does not affect the rate of psychomotor reactions. In clinical-pharmacological studies of desloratadine use in the recommended therapeutic dose, there was no elongation of the QT interval of an ECG.
The Aerius® drug is administered for 30 minutes after ingestion and lasts for 24 hours.
