"Pharmacological properties Salbutamol AV
This drug is a bronchodilator that stimulates the bronchi, blood vessels, and myometrial layer of the uterus through beta2 adrenergic receptors. However, it has little to no effect on beta1 adrenergic receptors in the heart. It also helps prevent allergen-induced bronchospasm. However, it may lead to a decrease in the number of beta-adrenergic receptors, including lymphocytes. It also has some metabolic effects: it decreases plasma potassium concentration, affects glycogenolysis and insulin production, and causes hyperglycemia (especially in patients with asthma) and lipolysis and increases the risk of acidosis.
At the recommended therapeutic dose, this drug does not adversely affect the cardiovascular system or cause high blood pressure. It has less positive chronotropic and inotropic effects than other drugs in this group and causes dilation of the coronary arteries.
After inhalation, the effect develops rapidly: onset of action occurs in 5 minutes, peak effect occurs in 30 to 90 minutes (75% of maximum effect is achieved in 5 minutes), and duration of action is 3 to 6 hours.
Indications for use Salbutamol AV
This drug is recommended for the following:
- Management of asthma attacks, including situations of severe asthma exacerbation.
- Prevention of bronchospasm attacks caused by allergens or exercise.
- Use as one of the components in long-term maintenance therapy of asthma.
