Instructions for Viferon (Interferon alfa-2b) ointment 40000ME/G 12 gr

Drug Viferon is an immunomodulatory agent with an antiviral effect, whose active component is human recombinant interferon alpha-2b. The drug has the function of increasing immunity, produced by the Russian company Feron. Read its application instructions.

Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics:

Recombinant human interferon exhibits antiviral, immunomodulatory and antiproliferative effects by suppressing RNA and DNA replication of disease pathogen viruses. The drug enhances the phagocytic activity of macrophages, shows an antibacterial effect, does not affect hemosorption. Interferon increases its activity in the presence of antioxidants (vitamin E, benzoic and citric acid), which increases the body's own immune response to the pathogens of infection. Viferon exhibits a pronounced local immunomodulatory effect, increases locally formed antibodies that do not allow pathogens to be fixed and propagated on the mucous membranes. This gives a prophylactic effect to the drug.

The rapidly absorbing substrate of all forms of release of the agent gives them a prolonged effect. Antioxidants in the composition show regenerating, anti-inflammatory and membrane-stabilizing actions, preserve the biological activity of interferon. The water-soluble protein alpha-interferon is effective against influenza viruses, hepatitis, herpes, and mixed-type infections.

It restores the functions of endogenous immunity, increases the production of antibodies. The antiproliferative effect of Viferon is manifested in the form of suppression of the growth of malignant tumors, replication of the genome of viruses. The use of the drug locally or rectally leads to rapid absorption by the mucosa and skin, its penetration into the lymphatic system. After 12 hours after use, the level of interferons decreases. Dose residues are excreted by the kidneys, metabolized in the liver and excreted to a lesser extent with bile.
The substance is not cumulated.
